The Proposal

Erin tells the story as so:


During my last semester in college; myself, Aaron and our closest friends where planning on going to Jacksonville Beach, FL after graduation, to celebrate! Myself, Trevor and Wyntre would be graduating May 2011. So May 13-15 we would spend at Trevor’s parent’s condo. On Friday May 13th (yep Friday the 13th) we all arrived at the condo and got settled and went dinner. After dinner we decided to go for a walk. Jared, Aaron and I went up to the condo and Jared asked me if I was taking my camera, at the time I thought it was an odd question, because I always took my camera, but I thought nothing of it. Jared, Aaron and I met up with Trevor and Wyntre for a walk along the beach during the sunset. Since I had my camera- I was busy taking pictures of things, while I was taking pictures Aaron wanted to leave the group and walk alone. So I said, “we really shouldn’t leave the group- we just got here- we should hang out with everyone.” Aaron was persistent so I gave up taking pictures of the sand and water and took his hand and walked in front of the group. Once we got a head of the group Aaron said, “You are the most beautiful girl in the world.” I replied with, “Aw, thanks!” Then Aaron turned to me, got down on one knee and said, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?”

I was totally taken by surprise; so many things were running through my mind. All I kept saying is “Really? Really?” In my racing mind I was sure I had said yes, but then either Trevor or Jared yelled from behind us—you have to answer! So then I realized I hadn’t said anything other than “Really? Really? Really?” So then I said, “Yes, of course!!” Then Aaron put the ring on my finger and I was shocked at how beautiful it was! Jared, Trevor and Wytnre were clapping and someone asked from my camera to take pictures and I realized Trevor had been recording the proposal! After many pictures, we went back to the condo. During the walk back I learned that everyone knew what this weekend was about. Aaron proposing to me was the purpose all along! Once we reached the condo, I called my parents, and of course they already knew. Then I called Joel, he was on a bus as they were driving to a music performance, he did not know- so his expression was about as excited and surprised as mine. He screamed to the whole bus, “My sister just got engaged” I heard the kids on the bus screaming and clapping too! Then Joel said, “you know it’s about time!”

I am such a lucky person to have such great friends as Jared, Trevor, and Wyntre that would take part in such a special time in my life! I still can’t get over that everyone knew!

I think Aaron is such a wonderful guy, I was so impressed that he planned this special proposal with our closest friends! I can’t wait to marry Aaron and see what other exciting things life has in store for us!!
